The literal meaning of the word interactive in the context of technology is 'allowing a two-way flow of information between a computer and a computer-user; responding to a user’s input.' The word is derived from the word 'interact'. It's literal meaning is something that can be influenced by a third party. It's meaning in reference to media is usually technology that responds to a user's input. This can result in the media presenting text, images, sounds, videos and other information. The most common example of this are video games which rely almost solely on an interacting user to progress the story. Further examples of interactivity in media and technology is AR advertisements. Adverts accessed with BlippAR by pointing the camera at the trigger image causes the image to play an animation or link to another website. This is effective as it is used to bring another level of interactivity to the experience.
The literal meaning of the word augmented reality is 'a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.' Augmented meaning altered to become greater in size, though in this context it would refer to altering reality through technology. Augmented reality is most common at the moment in video games such as Pokemon GO. Other simpler applications of this form of media is the running app, 'Zombies, Run!' which uses zombie sound effects that play in the runner's ears this uses fear to motivate the runner. These sorts of video games are effective as they add another level of immersiveness and increase enjoyment of the game for the player.
