Fonts: What do the following fonts connote/signify

A. Cosmo Girl: `Girl’ is hand written in pink, a feminine colour. The font could also be interpreted as feminine.
B. MTV: the ‘TV’ looks as though it was written with graffiti, which connotes youth, the man demographic of MTV. The words are coloured in solid yellow and red, both being lively colours, relating to the genre of music usually played on the channel.
C. Mission Impossible Three: Red, the colour of danger. The font and the colons between them resemble a timer, which connotes a sense of urgency and losing time, or danger again.
D. LOST: The impact font connotes boldness and possibly power. The way the font is placed behind the cast in a looming fashion, connoting a theme of an overarching threat, something that they don’t know. The opacity of the font connotes ghostliness and mystery.
E. Tomb Raider Legend: The font’s perspective is coming towards the viewer, connoting power, aggression, confrontation. The font is silver and has sharp edges, which conjures up imagery of a sword or a knife.
F. Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The font looks like it’s been written in ink, which connotes the theme of the show, the supernatural and vampires. The font is dripping which alludes to blood.

Connotation: The umbrella has a pattern on the inside, which connotes that this person is having fun despite the rain the pattern is also the same as the one on the perfume bottle which gives a message that if you wear this perfume, you will be as happy as this woman. The short hair breaks away from gender roles and connotes freedom. Her waving raincoat and scarf also connotes freedom and openness. The belt on the coat taking up space in the picture by waving around adds to her open body language and shows she is unafraid to take up space, again adding to the theme of freedom. Her dress is short and she’s wearing heels, she looks like she’s going to a party, this adds to a theme of fun and happiness; she is feminine and is very comfortable and happy in that. Her clothing in general is sophisticated and possibly expensive, connoting decadence. The monochrome of the photo is classy and also connotes sophistication. She’s smiling and her body language is open, adding to the theme of openness and fun. The way she is looking at the camera seems as though she is inviting the viewer to join her.
