Analysing Written Codes

  1. GQ- Brief, professional, masculine

  2. ‘Look sharp, live smart’ – A desirable way of being for men, draws male audience in in hopes of bettering their look

  3. Grey, black and red font, solid colours. Professional, masculine, passion, danger

  4. Block font, solid colours, relatively minimalistic. ‘Serious’, business-like, smart

  5. Commanding language: ‘Hide your daughters!’ – dominating/authoritative, risqué

  6. ‘Robert Pattinson is here’ – Household name grabs attention, attracts secondary audience – women

‘Barry Bonds’ another attention grab, popular basketball player

‘GQ’ In itself is a well-known title and publishing, stands out to regular readers.

‘How to dress for warmer weather’ – offering of advice, fashion magazine = good authority on fashion. Could go as far to say that men who read this feel insecure in their masculinity and look to male oriented products for guidance
